February Rewind

Who doesn't love an extra day? Hope you had an awesome Leap Year Day! I spent my day doing some shopping..got this:

A Shark Vac Pro...it's amazing!! I used coupons and gift cards (that were from our wedding!!) so I got an awesome deal.

I also had to pop into work for some training, and for dinner I got to eat Costa Vida.mmmmmm!!

It was a fun last day of February. So here's my month in review...not very exciting since we were sick pretty much all month.

RUNNING BY THE NUMBERS
Total Miles: Only 20! Yikes!
Longest Run: 4 miles
Races: Nada. I barely made my training runs let alone a race!
Cross Training: Hiked and did some longer power walks.

SIZE MATTERS

Monthly Weight Loss: Gained a pound :(
Pounds Until Goal Weight : 9 more pounds
Year To Date Weight Loss: -3 pounds

While looking through my camera, I found one of the kids took this flattering photo of me that I think sums up my month of fitness efforts.

GETTIN EDUMACATED

Books I'm Reading: I only read kids books this month..not sure if that counts!
Self Improvement: I seriously felt like I couldn't get ahead this month after taking care of sick kiddos and then myself getting sick. Who has time to improve themselves?! I DID however manage a couple small things that might not seem like much, but perked me up a little. I bought some new makeup for myself, a couple new tops. These are superficial things, but they help make a difference in my self esteem.

I did also spend a little time doing some early spring cleaning. Hard to think about spring when outside looks like this:

I started with Parker's closet. Here's the before:

Here's during...I think my face says it all:

Here's after: So far, Parker and I are doing a pretty good job of maintaining a clean closet. Let's see how many more hours it lasts...

Doing some major cleaning and getting rid of stuff always makes me feel better about myself!

JAMMIN' OUT

Hooked it up this month with Kelly Clarkston "Stronger", more Glee soundtrack "We are Young".

INSPIRE ME!

TRYIN' STUFF

This month I did do some new things- good and bad.

-Took my son to the ER. NOT what I had in mind for trying new things.
-Signed up to coach T-Ball!
-Made both kids a mini snuggie.."Snugglets"..sewed them myself :)
-Tried a bunch of new recipes that were fattening but muy bien.
-Took Parker on our first "date" while Cory and Callie attended the Father/Daughter Ball. We hit up Shakey's. Yum and Fun!

GOALS FOR MARCH

-Get back to training!!
-Use myfitnesspal regularly; at least 5 days a week
-Read a book for fun.
-Get out my St. Patty's decorations.

I've gone MIA

Sorry ya'all about the lack of posts...we've all been sick with ear infections, bronchitis, sinus infections...February is always a sicky month for our family. Anywho, we're all on antibiotics now so I hope to be back in the blogging world in no time. Thanks for hanging in there with me!

It's a Date!

He asked her.

At first she said no, afraid of the unknown.

He asked her again.

She said no again.

He asked her one more time.

It took some convincing, but she finally said yes.

It took some planning.

He wanted her to have the time of her life.

She wanted to spend all her time with him.

She picked out the perfect dress and shoes.

He put on a suit.

She told him he looked handsome.

He'd never seen any girl look so beautiful.

They walked hand in hand.

They danced the night away.

He carried her through the doorway at the end of the night.

It was the best night ever, with many more to come.

Saturday Happenings

Sorry about the blog break. Parker came down with croup, then passed his yummy germs to the rest of the house. We are all on the up and up now so I'm baaaaaack!

During the week I was unable to run because just breathing doing nothing was enough to through me into a sweaty, mucous filled cough attack. I decided to take a couple of 3 mile walks and that helped me at least maintain my weight. I have been eating pretty poorly so I am happy about just staying the same for now.

Me and my mom like to find random things on our walk/runs. This weekend's winners:

So my new thang I tried: I made homemade bath paints for the kids. It's so easy!

Some baby shampoo, a little cornstarch, and food coloring. I was worried about the food coloring staining the tub and the tile, but it just wiped right off. Kept the kids in the tub forever!! I had to drag them outta there!

We held some kid fights at our house too this weekend. Oh wait, no. Parker just beat up Uncle Catlin!

On a more serious note, today was Run For Sherry. There were people meeting near the river today for a group walk/run/bike ride, but we're still recovering from that bug I mentioned, so we hiked Badger instead. It was a gray day. I thought about Sherry like so many of us have been, and thought about her family, her final moments, what I would do if I was attacked while running. I hope Sherry's family felt the love from every community around the globe that was celebrating Sherry's life yesterday.

Just past "the stairs of doom"

We have to get all the way up there?!

My dad even came with us to hike. I think he's slowly coming around to see the importance of exercise. We'll get him!! I'm so proud of him though for making the decision to DO something today and get his heart rate up!!

We want this guy around for a long time!!

Run for Sherry

I'm a reader of the blog, Shut Up + Run. The author of the blog recently lost her cousin, Sherry. Sherry was abducted and murdered while out for a morning run in her small town, only 10 minutes into her run. She was a mom, a wife, a daughter, a teacher.

I am praying that Sherry's family, friends, coworkers, and students find some peace during this terrible time.

In Sherry's memory, SUAR is hosting a virtual run on February 11th. It doesn't matter if you walk, run, or even how far you go. RUN FOR SHERRY on Saturday.

First "Monthly Rewind" of 2012!

Was it me or was January a long month? Holy Cow! Last year, I shamelessly stole the rewind idea from Run With Jess, and would link up to her blog. This year, I've decided I'm going to change it up a bit with the monthly rewinds and add in some new topics. Here we go...JANUARY REWIND!!! (Totally yelling that in an Oprah voice)

Running By The Numbers

Total Miles: 33 miles
Longest Run: 3.6 miles See THIS post
Races: I complete the "Freeze Your Thorns Off Virtual 5K. See the above link for that race report. My slowest 5k ever, but it's all good!
Cross Training: I tried "The Firm", P90X2, and hiking. I was sore after each cross training day so I think they were all great workouts!

Size Matters

Monthly Weight Loss: -4 pounds. 0.5lb/week...I'll take that
Pounds Until Goal Weight : 9 more pounds!
Year To Date Weight Loss: -4 pounds...Duh!

Gettin' Edumacation

Books I'm Reading: High Crimes: Fate of Everest in an Age of Greed. So interesting, and sad. Why people want to die for a sport, I'll never understand.

Self Improvement: Sad to say, but I don't think I did anything specific thing this month to work on myself. I'll have to think about that one...Oh, I know! I completed my additional courses that my work requires us to take on the computer. That's pretty lame, but it's all I got right now.

Jammin' Out

Did you know I have one of these beauties now?

I've added some oldies and newbies this month...Florence and the Machine "Shake It Out", Nelly "Country Grammer", Kanye "Good Life"....I'll admit..I need some more new stuff!

Inspire Me!

Tryin' Stuff

Remember my New Year's Resolution to Try Something new every week? I ended up trying quinoa, a new greek restaurant I have wanted to go to for awhile, doing science experiments with the kids, and learning how to use my Kindle Fire. It was a great month!

Goals for Next Month

-I would like to NOT lose something important this month. I always misplace my keys, drivers license, kids backpacks, shoes, bills. It drive me crazy!! I'm going to come up with something to help change that annoying habit and not lose anything!!

-Stop being negative about my job. When it gets down to it, I am choosing to be there. I need to quit my bitchin' and make the best of it. Having a bad attitude isn't helping anyone.

-Go on my longest training run ever! I want to be up to 5 miles by the end of the month.

See ya later, January!!!!!!!
