Parker 16 month appointment

Well Mr. Parker had yet another check up. He is doing wonderfully...28.5 inches tall, 22 pounds! Growing right along. And let me tell you, since he is not quite walking yet, I feel every bit of that 22 pounds in my back and arms! lol! He's making great progress in the walking department. He's talking like 5-6 steps once he gets his balance. We have a hearing screening scheduled for the 26th. The Dr. wants to make sure his hearing is okay since he isn't talking yet. He's already passed a screening at birth, plus that kid can hear a pin drop, so we aren't concerned. However, the Dr. would like us to have his speech re-evaluated, and before we do that, they like a hearing test done. So that should be interesting. I remember raising my hand in class during that hearing screen in elementary school. lol, don't think it's like that. I've heard of lots of kids not talking until later in life, so we aren't freaking out over it. Also, as I've wrote before, he is doing a lot of gesturing, and using "words" that the family understands. Parker also got 2 immunizations..cried, but was a big tough boy! He's also doing great sleeping in his big boy racecar bed most nights. He doesn't mind sleeping alone..I think I'm the one with the issues!
Callie, my little lady, is doing great. She scoots backwards a lot, screams a lot
(in a talking way) , and gives lots of smiles. She's getting her giggle down and likes to be "scared"...she thinks it's so funny! Who does that remind me of? She's wearing mostly 6-9 month clothes, although her feet are tiny, only in size 1 still! Parker just made it to 4's, so must get it from Cory. I've got huge feet! Callie has her 6 month check up on the 13th.

Sick Kids :(

Parker and Callie both have horrible colds right now. We took Parker to the Dr. last week and the doctor said it probably just viral. So we are doing Tylenol, cool humidifier, bulb suction, and Vicks Baby Rub. Poor kiddos! Funny how even though I'm a nurse, when it comes to my own kids, I feel helpless! I guess I've seen too many bad things...I'm trained to think of the worse ya know. Anyway, at the office, I found out Parker is 29 inches tall and 23 pounds big. Parker also had his monthly physical therapy appointment last week. He's still working on walking and made big strides these past couple weeks. He's actually taking a few steps once we help him get his balance! He'll take a step of two all on his own when creeping from the coffee table to the couch. The P.T. said he'll probably be officially walking by next month. She brought a little baby walker for Parker to practice with while she was here. It was so cute. Picture a walker used by adults, but turned around behind the baby, with wheels and handles. I should have snagged a picture. You know, blackmail for when he's a teenager!

2009 Goals

Well, January is over! I don't think I shared my New Years Goals for 2009, but I thought I would with all of you. Those who know me know I'm a huge list person. It helps me to visually see what I need get get done and keeps me focused. Plus, it feels awesome to cross things off my list. So here's an update on how things are coming along. I must say I'm slacking in some areas. I have an excuse though- Parker has a pretty nasty cold right now so I'm pretty tired from listening to his cough all night. He's also passing it on to Cory and me so I'm feeling a little under the weather myself. Good excuse, right?

Wow, can't believe it's been over a month since my last post. Time flys! Let's see...Callie had her 4 month appointment January 5th. She was 12 lbs, 4 oz. and 23 3/4 inches long. She got her shots and did amazing! She didn't even cry the first 2 shots, but the last 2 got her, our poor girl. I guess she's used to her big brother picking on her. She's still rolling over from belly to back, but hasn't quite got the back to belly urge yet. We did start her on baby foods (organic of course!) after that appointment, but she just wasn't ready. She would have a good day, then want absolutely nothing to do with food for the next few, and so on and so on. I decided to give her a couple weeks to see if that would help. Sure enough, Cory attempted to feed her last week and she really was so much more into it. She's opening her mouth for each bite, and actually tonight, almost ate a full jar! We're thinking tomorrow we are going to add a fruit for breakfast along with her veggie for dinner.
As for Parker, well, he's still not walking. Getting so close though!! He will stand for a few seconds and attempt to take a step if someone is there on the other end to catch him. It's alright though. He's 15 months old and we won't get concerned until about 18 months. Until then, my back will have to keep suffering! He's so heavy! Still waiting for our 1st word too. Is this kid keeping me waiting or what? He's got all kinds of sounds for certain things, so it's pretty easy to figure out what he wants for us that know him real well. I guess he has his whole life to walk and talk, so it's alright with me. I would just love to hear a "mama" though. We're working on getting our little dude to sleep in his own bed. I think we created a monster! We never intended to be a co-sleeping family, but that's just the way it has worked out. Callie sleeps in her bed just fine, but crazy Parker just wont! Who's in charge here, right? Well, we are working on it. He's got a cold right now though and cutting more teeth, so we feel kinda bad for him and we are letting him sleep with us so he gets some kind of sleep at night. His cough is keeping us all awake though. It's okay, it's like that song says that says someday we will miss these days!
